All investments will be in line with Suzano’s ethos of “innovation”, that is, finding sustainable solutions through innovation, which is at the heart of all Suzano’s activities. “∘Suzano created Suzano Ventures to provide support and funding to a growing ecosystem of entrepreneurs who bring fresh ideas to the bioeconomy and broader environmental challenges we all face. Suzano Ventures will provide financial and strategic support to these companies and, using Suzano’s wider network and resources, will help accelerate the development of sustainable solutions for the pulp industry and beyond∘,” said Julio Ramundo, Suzano’s director of carbon business and corporate ventures.

One of the latest achievements of the company is Spinnova, a Finnish company that has developed a technology for the production of high-strength textile fibers from wood pulp fibers.

Susano’s initial investment in Spinnova, made in 2017, was €5 million, followed by other investment rounds. In 2021, Spinnova was listed on Nasdaq Helsinki and has a market capitalization of €390 million. Suzano Ventures is now looking to develop similar projects and provide more structure and flexibility by reviewing innovative projects and new startups seeking capital that align with Susano’s areas of expertise.
