The appetite of investors for private capital is undeniable. Last year, more than 138 billion euros were invested in European companies alone. What justifies such enthusiasm?

Xavier ANTONIOZ : There are several answers that explain the investor craze for private equity, a craze that has been gaining momentum on the part of private investors in recent years.

First, French savers want to make their savings more and more meaningful. They want to know that the money they are going to use will enable French SMEs and ETI to grow. They want to identify themselves with the project, the entrepreneur and, if possible, with their region. The France Relance label also serves to guide investors in this quest to support France’s recovery and growth.

In addition, this asset class, historically reserved for institutional clients, is becoming more democratic and open to private investors, who can, in particular through life insurance or PEA, increase their portfolio with instruments that offer returns historically superior to traditional asset classes.

In 123 IM, you explain how to enable investors to provide entrepreneurs with the capital and innovation they need to make the society of tomorrow. What do you mean ? What new topics are you focusing on right now?

Xavier ANTONIOZ : Our entrepreneurial DNA allows us to make our know-how and experience available to French companies in a global support logic, beyond simple financing. To do this, we develop equity and bond financing solutions tailored to each situation of French companies. We finance various business projects: development, external growth, capital reorganization and restructuring (transfer), meeting financing needs (pending asset sale, IPO or disposal).

We have always opted for broad diversification, positioning ourselves as a multi-disciplinary investor with extensive experience in the sectors of tourism (hotels, catering, leisure, camping), healthcare (RSS, pharmacies, analytical laboratories, clinics, etc.), real estate (real estate construction , real estate broker, investment property) and renewable energy sources. In addition, we are currently offering our clients the opportunity to invest in a portfolio of real estate developers and dealers, multi-projects and multi-developers through our FPS Finaprom 2022*. We also offer them the opportunity to finance directly in a club deal exclusive assets of Parisian real estate in the central district of Paris in exclusive partnership with leading operators**.

In order to best meet the needs of our clients, we invest in sectors that we have identified as promising and that are experiencing structural growth associated with changes in our society (age pyramid, changing consumption habits, housing shortages, etc.). They share the following common characteristics: tangibility, structural growth, market depth, visibility, sustainability and a good risk/reward ratio.

We are now stepping up our energy transition financing commitment. Our goal is to meet all the needs of Energy Transition participants by offering short or long term financing (from 2 to 7 years) adapted to the different stages of their projects. We are strengthening our position on this topic for the growth of this fast growing sector which requires significant financial needs.

What support do you provide to your clients? What are your development projects?

Xavier ANTONIOZ : Putting French savings into the real economy, making investment capital available to as many people as possible, these are the challenges we set ourselves at 123 IM over 20 years ago and which we continue to accomplish every day. Thus, we have invested more than 2.2 billion euros in more than 800 French companies (data as of 12/31/2021).

Our large network of reputed distributors (more than 1200 partners: banks, insurance companies, independent consultants, etc.) and well-established in the field is the fruit of the “field” development policy that we have pursued since inception, always contributing to the strong presence of our regional development teams with our distribution partners.
