Companies that want to keep their employees in their organization for the long term must first invest in their mental well-being.according to a study conducted in April by HR company Acerta and KU Leuven among nearly 400 CEOs and HR managers. Good work-life balance and learning opportunities fulfill the three main conditions that must be met in order to develop a sustainable career policy.

More and more companies are realizing that they need to work on flexible career if they want to win the talent war, analyze Acerta and KU Leuven. Employees will not be absent for long periods of time and will work longer in the organization. However, the practical implementation of this “doable” work, as a rule, remains business challenge.

Good wage

good mental health employees is condition number one (90%) in order for them to stay longer in the company. This is followed by a good work-life balance (82%) and development opportunities to continue working (78.3%).

Acerta also surveyed a sample of 3,000 employees to find out their opinions about sustainable careers and feasible jobs. They also believe that mental health and a good work-life balance are the most important conditions for being able to work well and for a long time.

Compensation that meets their financial needs rounds out the top three. “When workers are happy with their pay and the attention given to their mental health, work-life balance and learning opportunities, we see that they also feel good and are more resilient, which has a beneficial effect on their work and their services (.. .). Thus, employers will get everything to invest in this area through development programs, active careers and well-being.” recommends Benoît Caudriz, director of Acerta Consult and HR expert.
